The first official mobile application for NZALPA was launched last month, with Air Nelson members being the first to trial the free members-only app.
“We’re thrilled to have the app up and running and the feedback from users so far has been positive,” NZALPA President Tim Robinson, who has been actively involved in its development, said.
The app includes recent newsletters, articles, information on upcoming events and meetings, emergency details, meeting minutes and report functions, and complete reports.
“It’s been handy to have all that info in one place and especially nice to have our Collective Employment Agreement (CEA) available online,” Air Nelson Pilot Tony McKevitt said.
“There’s plenty of depth to explore. I can't wait until it is available for iPad."
While the app is currently customised for Smartphones only, the developers are also working on the tablet/iPad version. This will be rolled out shortly.
The app is under constant development and NZALPA is in the process of releasing version 2.3, which has some exciting new features. With the new version release, NZALPA will be offering the app to the next group of members – air traffic controllers and Air New Zealand Jet. Robinson hopes to have the release programme to all members completed by March/April this year.
“As an organisation, it’s really important for us to reach members as efficiently and effectively as possible, but it’s equally vital for members to access information they want and need, online and offline, from anywhere,” Robinson said.
“For members, it’s ‘your Union in your pocket’ and we want to see it used long–term as one of our primary ways of communicating."
- The app is available for iOS and Android and can be downloaded from the Apple App Store or from Google Play.
