NZALPA 10 Year Strategic Plan 2025 - 2035
Preparing for the Future
The recent pandemic now seems a lifetime ago and, as with previous global events, it has reminded us of the fragile nature of our beloved aviation industry whilst teaching us yet again that being prepared and resilient are a must if we want to be protected in the future.
Strategic planning allows us to plan for our future but also ensures we meet the objectives of the union, the culmination of which is to be the voice of aviation for our membership. These objectives were set when the union was formed and include driving principles that guide the management of the union with the membership being at its core. These seven principles in essence promote, protect and enhance, the interests of its members.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic, NZALPA has embarked on a review and restructure of the organisation which has led to a wider review of the 2011 strategic plan, organisation SWOT analysis, and stakeholder engagement culminating in the 2024 NZALPA Strategic Plan Assessment Report presented to the NZALPA Conference. The report provided a number of findings and recommendations that have been used to develop this 2025-2035 Strategic Plan.
The strategic plan that follows has 20 clear strategic goals to achieve over the next 10 years. Rather than looking at addressing specific threats and opportunities as the 2011 plan did, our 10-year strategy is to develop systems and processes to improve our resilience and prepare us for the next inevitable black swan event. By having robust policy and procedure backed by motivated and educated human capital in the form of staff, volunteers, and stakeholders, we will endeavour to weather whatever storm comes our way and provide shelter and protection for the membership.
To succeed with this strategy, we need to live and breathe the plan and so need dedicated and motivated people to action it. Therefore, I encourage all members to reach, become involved and be part of securing the future of the union, thereby continuing our mutual strength and support to advance our vision of being the Voice of Aviation for our members.
